Auntie’s Pearly Bracelet

Addison

Pearly white beads along a thin silver string
Like birds sitting on a wire in the hot California sun
Perfectly rounded
Sitting neatly on my wrist

Little did you know
You would belong to the sunny days of Los Angeles
Rolling around in the grass

You belong to the 80s
Arcade machines beeping and blinking

You would belong to the high school band
Twirling your baton

You would belong to the senior prom
Dancing the night away

You would belong to the planetary society
Observing the stars

You would belong to Haravrd

Mingling with the elite scholars

You belong to the thousands of books you read
Setting your heart on each one

And little did I know you would belong to me
