Citrine
Crystal
Congealed sunlight on ice Haphazard shape, an errant brightness out of place; A wayward chink from the earth mother’s brood. What crystalline caprice propelled it upward from the unplumbed depths to dwell above ground? No simple sun will cause this icy solitaire to melt; Solid and solemn An odd, foreign, beauty it will remain A strayed sprite, Startling and remote, amidst the colorless common stones; Until Vulcan’s forge takes task, in heed to the call within Gaia’s fiery heart And raises his red hot finger from the molten depths To summon, melt and mold, the errant one, Readying it for an evanescent return to abyssal home and kin. |
