Saw
John Lennon two times: once at Candlestick Park near San Francisco with the
Beatles and once in North Beach having a drink with his wife Yoko Ono.
First
time: Susan Leibovitz and I crashed the right outfield fence of the ball
park(no bleachers there yet) and listened to them play their last official gig,
August 29, 1966.
John
waved at Susan from a vehicle as they drove away from the concert. Second time:
I was playing folk and Russian music in a wedge shaped caffe on Vallejo Street
in North Beach, San Francisco. John and Yoko, the barista and myself the only persons
present at that time. I had an audition at the Coffee Gallery about half a
block away and went in the place to warm up. The year was 1972.
