“This
Cities sole goal has been to stop these killers. These buildings are filled
with Inventers, Scientists, and Chemists who have worked on the cure. History
has been cruel to the innocent long enough. Finally these motivated brilliant
minds have completed their research.”
I’ll show you to your quarters
now. Rest and prepare for a meeting.”
Dorwith has us follow him to one of
those crazy platforms again. I feel like I’m slammed to the clear panel nearest
me as we speed sideways, stopping in a short time. We enter a lovely living
area. I let out a sound, “Oh. It is
beautiful beyond imagination. Thank you Dorwith.“
“You will be comfortable here.”
Dorwith continues, “and familiar with the kitchen as it is the same design as
the House you have lived in. I will contact you when it’s time to board. This
city is protected from invaders and is invisible to enemies. Rest now.” And he
leaves.
“But the City saw us. We entered
easily.” I say.
“Our intentions are good, honorable.
Of course we entered.” Dorwith said.
“The large windows appear to be
extensions of the outside almost melting into the room. Ardi,” the view is beautiful.
Grass, trees, flowers; look at the pathways wide enough for walking and cycles
too. “ I turn back into the bedroom and walk over to a large fluffy bed covered
in a pastel green fabric, and set my hand on it. “Ardi, the bed feels as soft
as air,” with that I jump right into it. “Come join me.”
“Look out, ‘Ness,” and he jumps,
landing right next to me. We wrap up in each other’s arms and soon go to sleep.
We wake up refreshed and shower in a
large open enclosure. His dark curly hair is wet and unruly. I briefly run my
fingers through it and give him a kiss, then we dress quickly.
There’s a knock on our door,
Dorwith is standing there, “Follow
me.”
We get back on the platform
contraption. I feel like I’m being thrown like a ball. I am still not used to
this thing. My head and stomach are left somewhere behind us. We land in front
of a door that is open and prepared for us. The large reception room is full of
people mingling around.
Dorwith has us join other couples.
We are told the people in this room will be on our voyage in the same ship. We exchange names, introducing ourselves to
those closest to us.
We meet several lovely, interesting
beings. I can’t begin to remember their names. It’s quite an eclectic group of
characters from all over the Galaxy’s.
Our visit is short. We only need to
listen to our ‘speaker’ and meet a few of those going aboard with us.
“Welcome, one and all, I am Frackma,
Senior Developer for City Heart. We have chosen all of you for this compassionate
mission. Each one of you is gifted with unique talents and a desire to
help end the suppression. Your ship is equipped with items designed for your
success in this endeavor. Your efforts are appreciated and you will succeed. Good Will Speed Forth.”
We move into what appears to be a
schoolroom. The walls continuously show pictures of the subjects and how they
managed their attacks on the innocent.
“Good morning, I am Larlie, here to answer any
questions. We no longer can afford reckless annihilation of species. You will
stop the carnage and allow freedom to reach every single living being. You are
up to date and prepared for the trip.” He adds, “After a quick meal, you will
board. Thank you all and “Good Will Speed
Forth.”
With the end of our tasty breakfast,
we load into the space ship and settle in. We take off after all are accounted
for. Not a chance to doddle.
………………………………….
Two days out the alarm system
screams into our ears, jolting us, warning of impending danger. The big screen
blinks, Invasion in Sector 6. Warning! Warning! Warning! “That is right where
we are heading. Odd. Why and who would be creating this situation now? The entire section is in chaos, Ardi. What is
protocol for this red alert?” I look at him, concerned.
“Since we are pilots, our position is to keep this ship on point and letthe crew do their appointed jobs. When we get
near, we will have answers and everything we need at our disposal to annihilate
these waste droppings.” Ardi adds, “relax, have confidence. This situation has
been carefully planned.”
Ardi has the RQ2 traveling at light
year speed. He bends toward me and hugs
me. I like that. “Everyone is doing their job. Remember, the shattering noise
of the alarm won’t change the efficiency of this team.”
“How
long will it take to reach Sector 6 at this speed?” I have to ask.
“We are less than twenty hours away
from ground zero. That siren made my teeth numb.” Ardi laughs.
“Good. There is time to rest before
we are there. I’m sticky from the stress and need to shower now. I’m afraid I
smell like an old hairy oogta.”
“EEEEW! I won’t touch you then, besides,
if you are sticky I could be glued to you forever. Well, come to think of it,
there are good points.” He grins.
…………………………..
The hours quickly pass. We take
turns on the bridge with the other pilots, navigators and engineers. The crew
is efficient. We are near our
destination. “I’m getting used to our odd mind melding couple, Syci and Nec, I
am tired of them being bossy. These two interrupt me all the time.” Ardi
mentions, quietly, gritting his teeth.
“I’ve been finding that true too,” I
answer him and watch his busy hands at the console and as I turn to head for
the galley I am shaken off my feet, and tumble onto the deck. The ship rocks
and jerks. Ardel tries to reach out for
me and I’m thrown further away from him, crashing into a console.
Dorwith enters, holding onto a rod
that keeps him secure as he walks toward us. “We are in the middle of a meteor
shower. Grab something secure and stay there for a while longer. It should end
soon.”
As he says that we are jolted worse
than before as our ship automatically avoids contact with the meteors. Dorwith
flies toward me. We grab each other and reach for the safest secure bar,
holding on until the shower has passed us.
Bool mumbles into our speakers, “Minor
repairs are taking place. We can continue as before, the ship will be
successfully repaired in a quarter of a snap, or 15 minutes to those counting.”
“I look at Dorwith. “You said we
would avoid being hit. What happened?”
“The ship took the best move to
avoid the worst hit.” Dorwith didn’t act concerned.
The following morning we enter
ground zero, my heart beats fast and my mouth is dry. Ardel points out the
large window, “See that, ‘Nee? It is a beautiful planet and will be again when
we are finished.”
I hug Ardi, “It is beautiful, and
we’re ready to get this done.”
…………………….
Bool
takes command, directing each action as we near our target. We are cloaked and
come in undetected. Since the enemy is airborne, in fight mode with a new group
of victims, we hurry with precision. Jatter and Corilam were able to detect
and follow every planned movement of the BBs and airborne troop. They explained what's
going on and include their plans. Ticet
is a shape shifter and his mate Malty is a Psi-Teleporter. They make a power
couple. We are ready.
