The Saber Tooth Tiger
By J.Price

I am called Sanboo and was born with many Responsibilities. I am the greatest hunter and provide more food than all the other Saber Tooth Tigers.

Sometimes, when hunting in groups, we pursue and kill larger prey. Teamwork feeds many.

Everyone is asleep now. It is a good time to go out and stalk just the right animal for our breakfast. I will be a hero by morning light.

Oh, it is exciting to crawl toward the smell of the prey. I know he is near and I am carefully following my instincts while being very quiet.

It is dark. Moving stealthy I am a killing machine. I am strong. There is no doubt I will succeed for my family, my Pride. It is my nature.

Oh bat blitz, What is tangling and banging against me?  I can’t see what is engulfing me. How can I fight my way out of this mess? Clawing is not working. I am scrambling and twisting; still I am entrenched in a mire of trouble. I cannot get out of this alone. It is dark. I do not have benefit of a moon to guide me. I am completely lost to the environment and a captive. I claw and roar with all my might.

Suddenly a light blinds me and I hear a thunderous sound from far away. “Hey, fur ball, get out of the toy chest. That’s no place for little kitty cats. I have told you not to play in there", Jimmy's mom stands there, her hand on the light switch.

Drat, caught again.

It is so nice having a bowl of food and water presented to me. I think it is time for a nap now. My big adventure will continue another day.
