The square bottom of this bowl is woven upside down to create the pattern of an eight-point star.  The bowl is then woven from the inside in a twill (going over more than one spokes at a time) in a circular motion to create the spiral design. The traditional holiday colors of red and dark green lend a festive air to this bowl.  Reed is hand-dyed and may fade if exposed to direct sunlight.  The basket is finished with clear tung oil to enhance the beauty of the reed

The inspiration for this basket was a trip to the Biltmore Estate in the early spring.  It was snowing, but the hyacinths were blooming.  This basket features hyacinths in delicate shades of pink and peach. ©

The colors of deep turquoise, fuscia, and golden yellow lend a celebratory flavor to this cat's head basket.  It features an exaggerated ball-like shape with the traditional (with a twist!) Shaker cat head bottom.  Curls woven into the finished basket create the decorative diamond patterns. ©
